Welcome to Durham Sixth Form Centre.
I hope you, your friends and your families are well and that you have had a good summer break.
It has been an unusual year for us all, and one that we will have stories to talk about for many, many years to come. I hope it is also a year that we can take time to reflect on the many positives and not just the negatives of 2020.
It is great to be back in school. We have taken much pleasure in welcoming our Year 13 students back and delight in welcoming our new Year 12 student in, especially given it has been a long time since most of them have been in a school setting. Normally Durham Sixth Form Centre is a busy, thriving, bustling place, but for all of us in September it will feel somewhat different than normal. We have had to make many adaptations to the way we work. One such change is the continuation of blended learning. We only have one year group on site at any one time in the first half term to reduce the volume of students and also so that if we do have a local or national lockdown that our students will seamlessly transition into full online learning. We have done this in the hope that by November we can get back to some sense of normality and will update you accordingly at the appropriate time.
