Year 13 Leavers Party at the Radisson Blu Hotel

Two hundred of our Year 13 students recently celebrated the end of their studies here at Durham Sixth Form Centre with a Leavers Party at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the city centre. The event was organised by the Student Leadership Group and quickly sold out when it was advertised earlier in the year.

The Radisson Blu, Durham, proved to be an excellent choice of venue for the party, as our students were able to enjoy the fantastic weather as they started the evening outside on the terrace overlooking the River Wear. After they greeted each other and took lots of photographs in the sunshine, they were all excited to walk down the red carpet in their ball gowns and tuxedos to launch the evening.

The photo booth proved to be a big hit with students as expected and they took full advantage of the fun props to capture lots of group shots together. After an extensive buffet of savoury and sweet options catering for all dietary requirements, students were very keen to hit the dance floor, which remained packed for the rest of the night as they let off steam having all finished their exams and assessments.

Staff members all remarked on how much they enjoyed seeing our students relaxing after all of their hard work over the last two years and were given very positive feedback from the hotel and photobooth staff on our students’ behaviour.

The event was a fitting way to mark the end of our Year 13 students’ time with us and for them to say a fond farewell to each other ahead of the summer. We wish them all the very best for their future and hope they will keep in touch with us.
