Our students were making their ambitions soar this half term as our βNext Generation: Pilotsβ programme brought in three TUI commercial pilots and the Newcastle Airport Pilot Manager to talk about careers in the aviation industry. As well as learning about what the day to day life of a pilot looks like, the TUI team also discussed their new TUI Pilot Cadet programme with the students who are looking to lift off with their own careers.
The 19-month TUI Airline Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) Cadet Programme is an exciting opportunity for those with little, or no, flying experience looking to get into the piloting career without having to confront the often high costs. Students will complete their training and eventually join TUI as a Cadet Pilot flying the Boeing 737. This is an incredibly competitive opportunity, and the TUI staff discussed exactly what a student could expect from the recruitment process as well as some hints and tips to make their application stand out. The students were also given the opportunity to plan a flight as if they were taking off with a plane full of customers, and given a key insight into what preparation is involved for a short haul flight in Europe.
Ayva, who was one of the students involved in the session, said βI thought the TUI experience today was really helpful and interesting. I hope to see more of these events soonβ. In the coming months, we are looking forward to inviting in more guest speakers from the aviation industry, as well as taking the group out to see some of the amazing facilities at some local training providers!
