We extend our congratulations to the three Y12 winners of the Dennis Southwell Award 2024. We would also like to acknowledge and celebrate all the students who entered this year and allowed us to read their remarkable achievements.
The award is a community contribution award that we conduct annually, funded by Dennis Southwell, long standing former Chair of Governors, and now Member of our Providence Learning Trust. We are pleased to share the winners and some judges comments on their application entries:
1st Place: Angela
“Fantastic work done by Angela with Sunderland Youth Council. Angelaโs passion and commitment for providing young people with the opportunity to shape their lives in the local area and beyond is to be commended. Angela is a voice to ensure that young people are at the forefront of the government’s plans. She has proactively engaged in discussions with those who have the power to make change, especially regarding the Anti-Bullying Charter Mark Award.”
2nd Place: Evie
“Evie has demonstrated a high level of time and commitment to the Box Youth Project and the National Youth Agency, which has had a high level of impact on her local community and this has shaped her career path for her future. Evie has engaged with crucial community needs, including youth engagement, community support, and youth project assessment. Her future plans, including Key Fund facilitator training, suggest a long-term vision for continued community impact.”
3rd Place: Fern
“Fern’s has been involved in giving back to other young people as a gymnastics coach. She highlights the recent qualification she has gained and effectively demonstrates how it has enhanced her ability to support and mentor her students. Her commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging environment is evident, and she provides concrete examples of how her coaching has positively impacted the young gymnasts she works with. Faith wants to further develop herself by becoming a judge; this shows true passion and commitment.”
