We are thrilled to share the wonderful success of our Pride Picnic event that took place on Friday 14th June. This vibrant celebration was a heartwarming gathering of our community, bringing together different LGBTQIA+ North East charities and organisations to honor Pride Month. We were joined by Rainbow Skills Academy, HumanKind LGBT+, Proud Catholics, the.adhdeer and Durham Universities LGBT+ Society.
Event Highlights included:
Face Painting Fun: Our talented face painter Laura (Green Love Hearts) added a splash of color and creativity to the day, with many attendees proudly sporting rainbow designs and other festive art.
Student Choir Performances: The event was graced with performances by our performing arts student choir, whose harmonious renditions added a beautiful soundtrack to our celebration. Their voices echoed the spirit of unity and pride that the event embodied.
Community Engagement: Numerous LGBTQIA+ charities and organisations from the North East participated, providing valuable resources, support, and information to attendees. It was an excellent opportunity for networking and strengthening our community bonds.
In addition to the fun and festivities, the event served a meaningful purpose as we raised money for Rainbow Homes NE. This incredible organisation provides essential support and housing for LGBTQIA+ refugees and asylum seekers in need in the North East. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we were able to contribute to their cause, helping them continue their vital work.
We extend our thanks to everyone who attended and supported our Pride Picnic. The enthusiasm and generosity made this event a resounding success. Together, we celebrated the essence of Pride Month β love, acceptance, and community.
