Parents Careers Conference

Over 450 Year 12 parents and carers attended our recent annual Parents Careers Conference, where they were informed about all the key information that they would need to support their young people through the various progression options which lie ahead. As well as hearing from our own Careers and Progression Team, parents and carers were able to attend sessions hosted by University of Leeds, University of Oxford, Loughborough University, Newcastle University, New College Durham and the Civil Service, as well as a careers fair with a wide variety of providers and employers present.

Our annual Parents Careers Conference continues to be a positive and valuable event for those who attend, with the sessions aimed at topics which will be of particular interest such as student finance, apprenticeships, widening participation, work experience and applying to competitive universities.

Feedback from our speakers was that guests were engaged throughout the event, with great questions providing key insights into some of the options that Year 12 students have when considering their future. Attendees were also able to have bespoke conversations with all of the providers in the careers fair, discussing specific details about the offers available for their young people as well as the questions that the students may not think to ask.
