"Outstanding"

Ofsted Inspectors graded Durham Sixth Form Centre as ‘Outstanding’ following a rigorous two-day inspection, during which they observed lessons, scrutinised our results, spoke to students and met with staff and leaders.

Not only did they judge Durham Sixth Form Centre as ‘Outstanding’ for ‘Overall Effectiveness’ but also ‘Outstanding’ for ‘Student Outcomes’; the ‘Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment’; ‘Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare’; and the ‘Effectiveness of Leadership and Management’.

''Leaders provide a highly ambitious curriculum, which includes a broad range of subjects and enrichment activities.'' - Ofsted, November 2024

Monitoring Visit

DSFC underwent an Ofsted Monitoring Visit on 27th/28th November 2024. The Visit was triggered by academisation in November 2023 and DSFC was inspected as though it were a new school. The Visit had gone extremely well with the school achieving Significant Progress in all three areas of inspection (the highest possible outcome). It is now our pleasure to be able to share the final Monitoring Visit Report with you. We are thrilled at the outcomes achieved by the whole DSFC team, including Governors and Trustees. The Report reflects what we already know – DSFC and its students are thriving!

''Leaders and managers recruit teachers who are experts, both in their subject and the craft of teaching.'' - Ofsted, November 2024
