Boys Football

Academy

The boys football academy is a fantastic opportunity to combine sporting performance and academic studies. Our collaborative partnership with Durham University allows us to train and play in some of the best facilities in the North East at Maiden Castle Sports Centre.

More on this course

In addition to undertaking a programme of study, students will:

  • Receive 4 hours a week of specialist technical and tactical coaching at Maiden Castle Sports Centre
  • Represent the centre on Wednesday afternoons in the National Football Youth League (NYFL)
  • Have the opportunity to attend strength and conditioning sessions
  • Have access to video footage of games to analyse performance. Along with the use of GPS vests.

Places are strictly limited due to the practical nature of the programme and the high standards of performance required. Trials are held between October and April, while pre-season training sessions will be delivered in August.

Academy pathway

Boys undertaking the football academy programme are talented individuals who want to combine either BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport, or a 3 subject programme (comprising of A-levels, BTECs or both) with specialist coaching and match programme delivered by UEFA qualified coaches.

Kit

Due to the practical nature of this programme, all Academy players require a full sports kit which can be purchased from Durham Sixth Form Centre.

Kit includes:

  • Home strip / training kit / technical pants and top / padded jacket / kit bag.
  • All badged with the players initials and Academy logo.
